  • Drag and drop: drag a video from a folder onto Clip Lab to open it. The window shows 'Drop to open' while you drag.
  • Dropping a video while another one is open switches to it, and asks about the clips in your list, just like the folder button.
  • Dropping something that isn't a video shows a short message instead of doing nothing.

  • New close button in the top-right corner: close the video you're done with and go back to the start screen without quitting the app.
  • The Choose Video button is now a folder icon, next to the new close button, so the four buttons in the top-right corner match.
  • If there are clips in your list when you close a video, Clip Lab asks first, since they were marked on that video. An export that's already running keeps going and finishes normally.

  • The timeline rows are now the layer order: one row per item, with the front-most at the top. Drag a bar up or down to change what's in front. The numbers update as you drag, and the video re-layers with it.
  • Each drag goes one way: sideways changes the timing, up or down changes the layer, so restacking never moves the timing by accident.
  • Fixed: pressing a bar again right after clicking it now drags it, instead of jumping into its text box. A double-click still does that.

  • New: full layer control. A Layer order list in the side panel shows everything on the video, front-most at the top. Drag rows to restack them, or use their arrows.
  • Right-click a bar for Bring forward and Send backward (one step) as well as Bring to front and Send to back. Ctrl+] and Ctrl+[ move one step, add Shift to go all the way.
  • Each bar on the timeline shows its place in the stack, and a new Layers button on the timeline opens the layer order any time.
  • Nearly 600 stickers, sorted into groups: Popular, Faces, Hands and people, Hearts, Symbols, Fun and gaming, Animals and nature, Food and drink, and Travel.
  • The timeline's scrollbar is slimmer.

  • The video and everything under it now use the whole window, so the picture is much bigger.
  • Your clips list moved to a new button next to Settings. It shows how many clips are waiting, and opens the list as a popup like Settings.
  • Exports can run in the background: hide the progress window and keep working. The button shows the progress, then a check mark when it's done (or ! if something failed), and a message on the video lets you see the result.
  • The text, sticker and shape editor now slides in on the right while you're editing and slides away when you're done.

  • A cleaner, more compact timeline. Bars show their text or icon right on them, and things that don't overlap in time share a row, so the video gets more room.
  • Bars now line up on their own: they snap to whole seconds, the playhead, and the start or end of other bars, with a yellow line showing what they lined up with. Shift still gives tenths of a second.
  • While you drag, a bubble shows exactly when it starts and ends. Hover a bar to duplicate or delete it, or right-click for more, including Bring to front and Send to back. Ctrl+D duplicates.
  • A new look for the export window: a clear status at the top, a progress bar for the whole export, and a card for each clip with a Show button once it's saved.

  • Opening a new video now starts clean: the timeline is cleared and crop, size and sound go back to their defaults, so nothing carries over from the last video. Clips already in your list keep their own settings.

  • New: a timeline under the video. Every text, sticker and shape gets its own bar, so you control exactly when each one shows. Drag a bar to move it, or drag its ends to change when it appears and disappears. It snaps to whole seconds, or tenths with Shift.
  • New items start where the video is paused. Click the timeline's ruler to jump to any second, and zoom in for long clips.
  • Click a clip in your list to change it later: its times, crop, size, sound and everything on its timeline come back for you to edit.
  • Rename clips right in the list with the pencil button. The left side is more compact, so the video gets more room.
  • Fixed: a selected text or sticker no longer shows a dark box behind it while you edit.

  • New: add text to your clips. Pick one of 12 ready-made styles, or make your own with any font, color, outline, drop shadow and highlight behind the text.
  • New: add stickers and emojis, and shapes like boxes, circles, stars, hearts and arrows. Drag them anywhere on the video and resize them from the corner.
  • New: animations. Text, stickers and shapes can fade, pop or slide in and out, and pulse while they are on. Choose when each one shows, and press play to preview it.
  • What you see on the video is what you get in the clip, including cropped and resized clips.

  • New: crop your clips. Pick a shape like 9:16 for TikTok and Shorts, 1:1 or 4:5, or Free, then drag the box on the video to choose the part you want to keep.
  • New: choose a size for your clips: 1080p, 720p or 480p.
  • New: sound options for each clip. Keep the sound, remove it, save just the sound as an MP3, or split it into a silent video plus an MP3.
  • Each clip in the list shows its crop, size and sound, so one recording can give you a vertical clip and a widescreen clip in the same export. Cropped or resized clips take a little longer to save.

  • Fixed: vertical videos, like phone recordings, now fit in the video area. You see the whole picture at any window size instead of having to stretch the window.
  • Widescreen videos also show in full now. Before, the bottom of the picture could be cut off, especially in a wide or maximized window.

  • New: save any frame as a picture. Click the camera button under the video, or press S, and Clip Lab saves the exact frame you're looking at as a full-quality image, in the same folder as your clips.
  • Fixed: sending a report from Settings under Support could show an error even though the report arrived. It now says Sent when your report gets through, and if it really can't send you get a plain message and your report stays on screen.
  • Screenshots attached to reports are now sized so they always go through.

  • Clip Lab can now share basic usage info with KVRNL to help improve it: your Windows version and hardware, which features you use, and errors. It asks you once, and you can switch it off anytime in Settings under General. It never sends your files, file names or videos.
  • When Clip Lab checks your license, it now also says which version you're running, so we can see when an update has reached everyone.

  • The activation screen has been redesigned. It walks you through getting your free key: create a free KVRNL account, get Clip Lab for free, then copy your key from My Tools. Each step has a button that opens the right page.
  • Entering your key is easier: paste it straight from an email or web page and Clip Lab picks the key out and tidies it up, or use the new Paste button.
  • When something's wrong with your key, the screen now says exactly what happened and what to do next, for example when the key is active on another PC, was released from this one, or Clip Lab has been offline too long.
  • Clip Lab now opens instantly once it's activated, instead of waiting for the internet first. Your license is still confirmed in the background.
  • If several Clip Lab windows are waiting for a key, activating one now lets the others through as soon as you switch to them.
  • Stronger protection around activation, and dropping a file onto a Clip Lab window can no longer replace the app's screen.
  • Fixed a rare case where Clip Lab could lock again right after you re-activated it.

  • Brand-new Settings, redesigned from the ground up with tabs: General, Export, Updates, Account, Support and About.
  • Your choices now stick between launches: arrow-key jump distance, default cut mode, GPU or CPU encoding, export quality, a default save folder, and a pattern for naming clips automatically (mix in {video}, {n}, {start}, {end} or {date}).
  • Optional: open the folder automatically when an export finishes.
  • Updates tab shows what's new in every release, live download progress, and a Restart & update button the moment one is ready. A small dot on the gear icon tells you when an update is waiting.
  • Account tab shows your license status, a masked copy of your key, and your Device ID, with one-click copy for support.
  • Bug reports can now include diagnostics (version, Windows build, encoder, Device ID) so we can help faster, and a failed export offers a Report this button that fills in the details for you.

  • Instant (lossless) exports no longer fail on files that can't be cut without re-encoding, like older WebM or FLV recordings. Clip Lab now re-encodes those clips automatically and tells you it did.
  • Frame-perfect exports of HDR or 10-bit recordings now use the GPU and produce standard MP4s that play everywhere, including phones and Discord.
  • Videos with a % or ? in the file name now load in the preview player.
  • Choosing a different video now offers to clear the clips you marked on the previous one, so old timestamps can't be applied to the wrong file.
  • Formats the preview can't play (FLV, TS, AVI) now say so instead of showing a black box. You can still type times and export.
  • Arrow keys jump 15 seconds and Space plays/pauses even right after using the scrub or volume slider.
  • A temporary server problem during a license check no longer locks you out or tells you your key is invalid.
  • The window now fits on smaller laptop screens instead of hanging off the bottom.
  • Clip Lab cleans up the temporary files each launch leaves behind, so they no longer pile up in your Temp folder.

  • Downloads and automatic updates now come straight from KVRNL's own servers instead of a third-party host. Updates are quicker and more reliable, and nothing inside the app itself has changed.
  • If you installed this app before today, please download it once more from kvrnl.io. Older copies still look for updates at the old location and can't carry themselves across the move — this one time has to be done by hand.
